A powerful collection of poetry and prose reflecting the ideas that drove the struggles for liberation, civil rights, human rights and cultural identity. drawn from the writings of people like Ishmael Reed, Nikki Giovanni, Jayne Cortez, Franz Fanon, Amiri Baraka, Nelson Mandela, Haki Madhubuti, Gwendolyn Brooks, Mari Evans and activists supporting the Angolan Liberation War — these struggles were international in the '60s, '70s and continue to the present.

Visiting the Río Grande to commemorate the anniversary of her daughter’s death years before, Francisca Warrior becomes a wanted woman when she murders two minutemen poised to rape Rosario Chen, a refugee immigrant from Guatemala. One a fugitive, the other undocumented, the two women flee the law, represented by Border Patrol agent Reynaldo Madrid, who pursues them through a region where culture, politics, and land all become sites of conflict and contradiction.
