Covering essential topics such as auditioning, navigating a career in the arts, the power of storytelling in business, and more. These sessions will be helmed by lauded local artists, including Melissa Archie, Idris Ackamoor, Kendra Barnes, and Velina Brown, beginning with a highly anticipated workshop on auditions and monologues led by Artistic Director Margo Hall.

Want to level up your audition game? Work with LHT Artistic Director Margo Hall to get individualized, constructive feedback improving your performance skills for your next role or audition.

 

All participants are required to bring in a memorized monologue to practice with a small cohort.

Mind-Body-Kinection with Kendra Barnes ($50)

While integrating gestures, movement qualities, and theatrical themes, students are nurtured and empowered to find their authentic artistic voices through breath, dance and movement. The goal of this workshop is to create an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and equipped to contribute their unique perspective to the artistic landscape. Perfect for actors and those that are self-deemed 'non-movers,’ this is not just a dance workshop; it's an essential journey of self-discovery, expression, and empowerment for all.

All participants should wear clothes and shoes/sneakers, for moving and dancing.

Brand YOU: Define Your Story with Melissa Archie ($75)

Your personal brand is about so much more than a logo, font and colors! It's about being clear about who you are, what you stand for, and how that is reflected in what you do and the decisions you make while you build your craft as a business. In this workshop, you will have clear, documented verbiage of who you are based on your journey, values, and goals. Whether you are an artist or executive, you never have to stumble when it's time to quickly and succinctly describe what makes you unique at what you do.

Business of Show Biz Q & A with Velina Brown (Pay-What-You-Can)

Bay Area legend Velina Brown will make an opening statement to set up a rousing conversation about working in theatre, entertainment and performing arts. Then, she’ll open the floor to you to answer questions, myth bust, share fun facts, and demystify "The Biz”.

Don’t Drop Dead on Stage: Sustainability, Prosperity, and Success with Idris Ackamoor ($75)

This workshop is a frank discussion tackling topics such as grants, publishing, the music business, social security, pensions and retirement accounts, health issues, and estate planning in an easy to understand, accessible manner. ‘Don’t Drop Dead on Stage’ is designed to help artists and arts administrators establish economic security and sustainability as they pursue a career in the performing arts.
